Image Story

A major attraction of trekking in a national park is the possibility of sighting one of the world’s rare species. But in all my numerous walks I’d failed to spot one. So coming across a spotted Tailed Quoll, the second largest of the world’s surviving carnivorous marsupials, took me completely by surprise. They are usually nocturnal and often move in trees above the forest floor, but this beauty was resting on a log. It was only a blink of an eye before it took off, but I have my picture to prove it.
